243 WINCHESTER (6.2x52mm) is a necked-down 308 that is ideal for small- to medium-game hunting. It is the smallest caliber legal for deer hunting in 10 US states. With a muzzle velocity of 3900 fps and low recoil, it is highly accurate at 300 yards.

Compared to the 308 WIN, 243 Winchester is smaller diameter, making it better for varmints; lower recoil and flatter trajectory, making it more accurate; and high energy, making it effective for medium game like pronghorn and white-tail deer.
